Bazaarvoice is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join us in building the future of Platform Engineering at the company. Cloud Engineering is tasked with designing, producing, and implementing tools and automation to deliver software to our clients within our AWS-focused cloud infrastructure.
You will work closely with the engineering leadership and other engineering teams to ensure the availability of our services, provide a stable and efficient platform, and develop automation to streamline development and deployment.

ResponsibilitiesMulti-Cloud, Multi-Account, Cloud Platform strategy working with the Senior Director of Engineering Excellence and Architecture alongside Principal Engineering together to develop, manage and prioritize the product backlog.Optimizing team velocity by ruthlessly prioritizing workload, removing roadblocks to progress, and actively protecting teams from disturbance, disruption, or outside interference.Anticipating future people requirements and working with our talent team to recruit, evaluate, and hire great new team members.Writing quarterly and annual performance feedback and completing performance evaluations for multiple teams.Providing informal performance feedback frequently, recognizing achievement, and flagging opportunities for growth. Providing advice and assistance to teams on technical difficulties that arise in the course of doing their work.Staying current on the development tools and technologies that your team members are using.
Skills & Experience Confident, sanguine coaching, mentorship, and career development experience.Excellent Knowledge of AWS (or GCP) cloud technologies, containerization, and serverless service options.Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilityExperience flagging issues that your team might overlook (such as scalability, performance, security, compliance, operational readiness, etc.).Prior experience leading development of highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability, and high availability.Experience working in an agile software development environment and will seek out opportunities for improvement while identifying and managing risk.Demonstrable experience identifying opportunities for your team’s professional development, and history of working with the right partners to make it happen.
Requirements6+ years of Software Engineering experience and 3-4+ years as a People Manager/Lead.Experience developing on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and understanding AWS offerings, development, and networking platforms.Experience developing Java, Go, Python applications and leading teams developing these applications.Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience Skilled in knowledge and usage of cloud technologies.
DesirableProven results-oriented person with a track record of delivery.Demonstrated ability to inspire and mentor a technical team.Knowledge of and experience in, maintaining systems that have 24x7 operations, 5 9’s uptime requirements, and under high utilisation.Experience managing the large budgets for AWS or other cloud platformAbility to adapt to new development environments and changing business requirements.Works well in a cross team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.Demonstrated experience in setting long term strategic technical direction for one of more software engineering teams.
