The Position
As a (Senior) Legal Counsel, you play a crucial role as the legal business partner for our Medicine, Evidence, and Digital Health initiatives, which are at the core of our mission to transform lives and improve human health.

Tasks & responsibilities
In this role, you will be the legal business partner to the Corporate Medicine team. You will analyze and assess potential legal risks associated with the activities, effectively communicate these risks and find innovative solutions to complex challenges.
To ensure that all legal aspects are addressed promptly and with the necessary expertise, you will collaborate both within and outside the Legal Function as required.
Additionally, you will oversee and facilitate the handling, drafting, and negotiation of intricate transactions to enable our Medicine Strategy. You will proactively identify and address legal considerations related to the transactions, contracting partners, and relevant markets.
You will stay updated on new legislation, the external landscape, and competition dynamic. When necessary, you will take appropriate legal action to protect the company's interests.
Finally, you will maintain close collaboration with the Legal Function and actively share updates and insights.
Additional tasks & responsibilities as Senior Legal Counsel
As a key strategic partner, you will actively contribute to the Medicine Function Heads and their key initiatives. Your insights and expertise will be integral to the relevant management teams.
Taking over a leading role you will work with a team of lawyers from the R/OPUs in relevant matter on a global scale.
You will be a legal representative in a cross-functional task force for the corporate medicine strategic initiatives and provide global guidance.
Requirements
Fully qualified lawyer or comparable degree in a common law country with a few years’ experience in legal and regulatory support of drug development; preferably knowledge and experience of GxP, data and digital initiatives
In-depth knowledge and experience in German and European law (including GxP), as well as a basic understanding of the relevant laws in major international markets that govern the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with the ability to design and draft various types of international collaborations and global contract templates
Ability to collaborate effectively, proactively and pragmatically and maintain an optimistic outlook
Good negotiation and communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management within the organization and with negotiation partners
Actively seeks out and understands the Medicine activities, enjoy working in a truly international environment.
