JMT is currently ranked #59 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.JMT's Construction Management Team is seeking an experienced Senior Level - Lead Inspector for a large Pennsylvania Turnpike Project located at the I-95 / SR 276 Interchange. The successful candidate will work with the construction management and construction inspection teams to supervise standard inspection procedures of construction activities on behalf of our client the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance of contract documents.Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards.Monitor schedules and maintain appropriate schedule related documentation.Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codesWork on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issuesWitness routine sampling and tests on concrete, soils and other materials.Gathers and maintains project records (using standard PTC systems).Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.Additional Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsNICET Level III or Level IV in Transportation Highway Construction or a BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management along with relevant experience may be acceptable.Proficiency utilizing standard PTC documentation systems.Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge RolePreferredSkillsCurrent Client Requested Certifications, including:NECEPT- Bituminous Field TechnicianPennDOT Concrete Field Technician (ACI Concrete Field Technician is prerequisite)
Required Experience5 years of PTC or PennDOT Transportation, Highway or Bridge Construction Inspection ExperienceCurrent valid driver's license and a reliable motor vehiclePreferred ExperienceAssociates or bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineeringSupervisory experience in construction management or inspection projectsWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
