Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to Bellows Air Force Station. Responsibilities Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards. Instructs and trains new employees. Elevates unresolved employee complaints maintenance or operational issues to according supervisor. Updates computer database with room status, occupancy, check-outs and reports on housekeeping area. Ensures adequate stock of cleaning materials and equipment required to do the work. Assists custodial worker in selecting and using cleaning agents safely and cost effectively and instructs them in planning sequence of work. Serves as shift leader in the absence of the supervisor. Performs custodial worker duties cleans guest cottages thoroughly including inside and outside areas. Sweeps, mops scrubs floors. and Cleans kitchen appliances. Empties ashtrays, and wastebaskets. Makes beds, changes linen and towels. Cleans and disinfects bathrooms. Counts and sorts linen. Moves furniture to clean underneath and behind items. May rotate mattresses, remove and hang draperies. Cleans lanais and barbecue grills. Completes inventory checklist, notes conditions requiring maintenance and submits to the supervisor or other designated individual. Qualifying Experience: Ability to lead 3 or more custodial workers to accomplish housekeeping assignments. Must have functional experience and demonstrated knowledge of facility/equipment in housekeeping and the ability to build teams and work with others. Must have experience and knowledge of housekeeping principles and practices. Must be able to plan, coordinate, and time sequence steps needed to meet time constraints of work assignments. Experience and knowledge must have been gained either in a military lodging program or commercial hotel/motel. Must be able to follow oral or written instructions and speak English. Must be physically able to frequently lift and empty wastebaskets, and occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds to include moving furniture. Must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods of time. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
