SR IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST – CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LAB

The SR IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST is under the general direction of the invasive cardiologist assists in all assigned duties related to cardiac cath lab procedures. Primarily responsible for the radiographic equipment radiographs and related imaging and archiving equipment. Participates as a surgical scrub as necessary. Monitors and processes hemodynamic data. Provides direct patient care under the direction and coordination of the RN responsible for patient care.
Responsibilities
Primarily responsible for the radiographic X-ray equipment and archival system. Including daily evaluation of equipment and reporting of repair and maintenance.
Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays including DSA and step table.
Adjusts equipment, determines proper pulse width, frame rates, digital filtering and collimating.
Employs X-ray protective devices.
Is responsible for radiation safety as related to patient safety, under the direction of the invasive cardiologist.
Participates as a surgical scrub as required.
Familiar with aseptic technique.
Familiar with Interventional Radiology and cardiac cath lab procedures including left and right heart caths, current interventional modalities, IVUS, FFR, electrophysiology procedures and implants.
Knowledge of potential complications intra- and post- each of these procedures.
Participates as the monitor position using the hemodynamic monitoring system for documentation of the procedures performed, sampling and analysis of hemodynamic data including CO; CVP, PA, PCWP, LVEDP waveforms; Valve Area calculations, Shunt calculations.
Assists with management of arterial, CVP, Swan Ganz catheters including insertion and removal per departmental/hospital policies.
Familiar with closure devices/patches.
Familiar with potential procedural site complications after sheath removal.
Able to take lab results and report to cardiologist and other staff whether normal, abnormal or critical values only during those times when the RN is involved in patient and cannot be removed from patient care to receive results as they become available.
Basic understanding of Title 17 as related to radiation safety guidelines in radiation safety as related to ALARA.
Familiar with radiological imaging and positioning.
Performs other job duties not described above as requested by department management.
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent.
Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by ARRT.
Two (2) years recent experience in cardiac cath lab and/or angiographic interventional radiology.
Courses in Hemodynamic monitoring Arrhythmia Interpretation Cardiac specific classes within 1 year of hire.
ARRT License is required.
CRT License is required.
Fluoroscopy required (or eligible within six months of employment)
AHA BLS required.
AHA ACLS required. (within one (1) year of employment)
Must become proficient at Siemens software McKesson Hemodynamics QSIGHT inventory management and current image archiving system within six months of employment.
Must become familiar with hospital Information system (AS400 ordering system) within six months of employment.
Fire Safety Card required (within 90 days of your start date)
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Pay Range
$56.90- $67.03 /hour
