  Your Specific Responsibilities:

  This is a professional position responsible providing STD/HIV health education programs that help individuals, families, and their communities maximize and maintain healthy lifestyles. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles environments. This position is under the direct supervision of a Health Education Supervisor.

  Plans, develops, implements, evaluates and delivers comprehensive STD/HIV prevention education programs and develops specific interventions strategies according to the Center for Disease and Control Program (CDC) approved behavioral, biomedical and structural interventions, public health strategies and social marketing campaigns targeting priority populations (Hispanic/Latine, black/African American/Haitian, MSM and/or HIV+ individuals) living in Miami-Dade County. Provides behavioral modification interventions using the compendium of evidence-based interventions (EBIs), Evidence-Informed Interventions (EIs) and best practices for HIV prevention for each target group to promote healthy lifestyles in the areas of STD/HIV prevention. Understands social determinants of health linked to HIV prevention and care and promotes strategies that provide knowledge and behavior modification skills that will contribute to healthy lifestyles for at-risk communities.

  Supports Community Mobilization initiatives and develops constructive and cooperative working relationship with local community leaders, community-based organizations and institutions, to facilitate the provision of HIV/AIDS education prevention programs to at-risk communities in Miami-Dade County. Coordinates community engagement activities and supports a Community Mobilization group by partnering with community-based organizations, local businesses, AIDS service organizations and gatekeepers to develop, implement, evaluate and expand local, state and national HIV/AIDS Initiatives for youth communities. Attends community meetings and serves on advisory committees as requested by the Health Education Supervisor .

  Collaborates with Florida Department of Health programmatic staff in the areas of disease control, and local groups to determine community health needs, availability of services and to develop goals for meeting needs. Provides guidance to agencies and organizations on STD/HIV. Serves as a resource for participating agencies and clients; keeping an updated directory of available services in the target area; becoming an HIV/AIDS service referral source for people in need; enhancing the STD/HIV prevention and education activities within that specific target area and priority population.

  Develops, prepares and coordinates health needs assessments and other public health surveys as requested. Collects and reviews data, statistical charts and graphs to be used for educational purposes. Develops and presents health education and promotion programs, such as training workshops, conferences, and school or community presentations. Provides professional educational presentations based on approved interventions throughout Miami-Dade County as requested.

  Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in either written form or by electronic recording. Collect data from activities and/or interventions and reported in the State of Florida assigned data collection system monthly. Process and submit program report monthly. Document activities and record information, such as the numbers of customer satisfaction surveys completed, presentations conducted, and persons educated on STD/HIVAIDS.

  Assist in additional office related activities and duties assigned, including the volunteer program. Participation in the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade activities including Test Miami and National Days of HIV Observance.

  Performs all other duties as assigned.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.

  Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively

  Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  Qualifications:

  Minimum - Experience working with men who have sex with men and/or HIV+individuals, providing sexual health, HIV/STD prevention education, public speaking experience, valid driver's license

  Preferred - The incumbent in this is position is preferred to be bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole .
