Description
Lead geotechnical components for Design-Bid-Build, EPC and Design-Build projects including power plants, transmission lines, electrical substations, process facilities, industrial facilities, airports, solar power facilities, commercial, and governmental and military facilities from conceptual phase through design completion, including those needs and requirements that are set forth by project managers, including geotechnical engineering analyses, design and evaluation related to shallow foundation systems, deep foundation systems (drilled shafts, helical screw piles, augercast piles, micropiles, driven steel piles, driven concrete piles and vibratory driven steel caissons), machine foundation dynamic evaluations, settlement analyses, slope stability evaluations, underseepage evaluations, retaining structures, consideration of seismic effects, and earthwork.
Lead and review engineering design calculations, reports, specifications and construction documents, and other technical documents as needed. Lead work scopes, subsurface exploration oversight, and management of site investigation subcontracts. Lead field assignments associated with site investigation activities and support foundation and earthwork construction activities including performing field observation of augercast pile construction, concrete pile construction, micropile construction and lateral and axial static load tests and dynamic load tests of deep foundations, and leading field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients. Apply strong knowledge of commonly used geotechnical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the geotechnical engineering services industry. Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify incorporations of geotechnical requirements and confirm corrections are made. Compile information for client presentations, and contract administration for the design of power plants, transmission lines, electric substations, process, industrial, airports, solar power facilities, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients. Quality review of geotechnical design calculations for a variety of projects and project related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made to the final design submittal. Quality review the construction administration including coordination with field personnel to resolve design related installation issues, calculations, field inspections and testing of geotechnical systems. Prepare and present technical reports and/or presentations for clients and industry organizations.
Build effective relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met. Manage the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance. Prepare and present project geotechnical budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance. Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the geotechnical engineering practice. Provide mentoring to assistant level engineers. Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies. Telecommuting 30 day per year is permitted. International and domestic travel up to 25% of the time is required for internal meetings, client meetings, construction observation and project site visits.
