The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve gross margin growth. As a Senior Finance Manager Harware Platform, a crucial member of the team, you will support short- and long-term investments leveraging extensive modeling and competitive intelligence. The focus is short-term hardware cost reduction initiatives from production approval to ramp and keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition all while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments and safeguarding shareholder interest.
Responsibilities
The Cloud Hardware and Emerging Technologies team is responsible for the gross margin health of the different cloud businesses through a focus on emerging technologies and hardware solutions. The Hardware Platform Senior Finance Manager is a critical part of this team, ensuring the Microsoft Cloud businesses achieve the gross margin targets by proactively optimizing our roadmap investments from targeted Hardware solutions. This includes decision support for approved offerings, technologies, programs, and investments, defining financial models, developing, and managing KPI’s agreed to as part of the development process, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for optimization, and margin accountability.
We are looking for an initiative-taking individual who has curiosity to learn the Azure business and wants to make impact through partnership with key finance and engineering partners, continuous process improvements, and driving business insight.
This role is a wonderful opportunity to:
Provide insightful cost management and program analysis focused on short-range planning and roadmap to gross margin targets.
Collaborate with Hardware (HW) Engineering and Finance driving product profitability by Identifying and drive cross-functional efficiencies.
Collaborate with HW Engineering and Commodity planning teams to define, forecast and support optimal development strategies.
Collaborate with HW Engineering and partners to drive product profitability by Identifying and drive cross-functional efficiencies.
Contribute to Hardware Development processes to drive accountabilities and track progress towards and TCO margin goals.
Continuously improve and evolve insights through crisp financial analysis and KPIs influencing and impacting the business.
Articulate findings into deliverables to enable decision making across executive engineering, business, and finance leaders.
Qualifications
Required / Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or related field AND 2+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree preferred
6+ years of relevant experience with progressive advancement within your discipline
Established leadership skills with analytical modeling and strategic thinking
Data and financial modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial systems
Ability to communicate complex analysis in a straightforward way. Executive level oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated results proactively driving and delivering high value/high-impact project through both individual and v-team efforts
Initiative-taker driving best-in-class decision support in ambiguous environments
Collaboration capabilities, with ability to influence others without direct authority and appropriately push back as required
Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic/high-level projects to detailed Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis
Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, quickly prioritize impact and the resourcefulness to deliver
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
