Please note: Relocation support is not offered for this role.

We are looking for a senior operations specialist to help us build the next generation of virtual compute platform to enable the continuous growth of the LEGO Group.

We are pushing the bar for what is possible as we strive to build highly scalable and robust Software-defined Data centers to support our need for compute and storage at our distributed Edge locations - and we like to have fun along the way!

  Core Responsibilities

The new Senior Engineer in Compute Anywhere will take lead on the transformation from our current separately offered platforms and services to a cloud experience, where on-prem platforms and services are presented in a portal with focus on self-service.

Develop, operate, and maintain Interfaces such as API’s, Plugins, dashboards, and other customer faced services for our on-prem hosting services regarding compute, storage, and disaster recovery.

Identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objectives, and develop approaches to resolve technical blockers. Advocate for the user, anticipating their needs and collaborating with engineering and UX to build capabilities for self-service and empowered DevOps product teams.

Represent the Compute Anywhere team to both internal developer communities, as well as at external events (such as hosting workshops and Hackathons).

Strengthen engineering excellence within the team, improving our enterprise-level platforms that the LEGO Group engineering community can build their business on.

Support our Lead Engineer with the product strategy, roadmap definition, and the gathering of requirements from our customers.

Coaching and mentoring of associate and mid-level engineers to help craft the next generation of senior engineers.

Play your part in our team succeeding

Working in LEGO® infrastructure is a hugely exciting experience and a superb opportunity to work with groundbreaking front-end technology in a diverse and great engineering team. We are passionate about delivering on our vision of a modern Edge infrastructure.

The team is a core team for the LEGO Group, providing foundational capabilities for our manufacturing space. We are supporting hundreds of LEGO® engineers who require low latency, on-premise compute power and storage of data. We are the experts in running in-house data centers combined with cloud services where virtualization, automation and self-service are key drivers. We build a DevOps experience at the hardware level applying vendor provided management tools combined with the offering of services to other product teams through a self-service portal and access to data through APIs and a data intelligence portal.

The team is based at the brand-new LEGO® Campus in Billund. The work environment is exciting, inspiring, and flexible.

We are an international team; our work language is English but understanding and speaking Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Do you have what it takes?

The preferred candidate has several years of experience in providing IT services to customers or colleagues and extensive DevOps knowledge, experience as a Site reliability engineer or similar role. Automation and user self-service approach with experience in crafting API’s and self-service offerings, and can develop small applications or plugins using Java Script, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.

Preferably experience with operating and developing infrastructure and services in public cloud environments (Edge, AWS, and Azure). Understanding of the application and service delivery, hybrid/multi-cloud market context, and cloud service and infrastructure platform operations. Familiarity working in an agile setup is encouraged.

To succeed in this role, ideally you have:

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent experience.

Experience using VMware, VxRail, Storage (PowerScale, Alletra) and SAN is an advantage.
