  Job Summary:

  The Materials and Processes Engineering (MPE) organization is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a Senior Engineering position within the Advanced Materials organization conducting analysis, research, development, implementation, and validation of special technologies materials with a focus on high temperature exhaust system coatings for state-of-the-art jet engine applications.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Key functions include generation of innovative material / process solutions to meet critical engine needs, effective planning and execution of internal development programs and government contracts, and continuous development of standard work related to special technology materials development and implementation.

  The preferred candidate will work as part of a cohesive and dedicated team of engineers and technicians responsible for the development of the referenced materials. Support of multi-disciplinary integrated product teams, and effective management of both schedule and budget are entailed.

  Travel: 10%

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelors' of Science Degree in Materials Science (or related field of study) and 5+ years prior relevant experience, OR

  Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years prior relevant experience.

  Experience working in the aerospace Industry in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.

  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  An Advanced Degree in Materials Science or related field of study a plus

  Additional experience in high temperature coatings is desirable

  Established security clearances (strongly preferred)

  Experience within (and potentially management of) materials development programs, and demonstration of strong materials science technical abilities therein

  Proven ability to work within teams spanning multiple organizations (both within, and outside of the company)

  Proven ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask within a fast paced and challenging engineering environment

  Strong communication skills – both written and verbal

  Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

  Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

  The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

  Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

  This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
