Job Summary
The Technologist II is responsible for performing standard as well as morecomplicated and complex EEG recordings, is able to monitor additionalelectrophysiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques andinstrumentation, may assist in the training and teaching of END Students orEND I Technicians and may participate in research studies
Essential Functions:Performs routine and complex EEG recordings in the adult and pediatric EMU. Atechnologist at this level should demonstrate a working knowledge on thecomplexities of EEG equipment and how it pertains to hospital networks as wellas the best parameters to be used during recording EEG that will provide themost accurate information. (20%)Demonstrate proficiency in the standard department workflow in EPIC as well asthe skills necessary to complete modification of orders, rescheduling andall functions in EPIC required to maintain Snapboard, scheduling and otherduties as assigned. (20%)Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining daily inter-personal relationships andcommunication with clinical team regarding relevant patient information,patient care and scheduling. (10%)Keep equipment in clean operating condition. Perform maintenance and minorrepair of laboratory equipment and report need for major repairs. (10%)Complete daily work flow tasks in EPIC, W-Ren folder, Neuro-productivity (10%)Participate in conferences, technical meetings, and other educationalactivities. (10%)Complete annual Denver Health cornerstone training, participate in annualdepartment competency, remain current in all relevant departmentcompetencies, maintain BLS certification, and follow Denver Health flushot policy. (10%)Assist END Supervisor in program development and laboratory organization.(10%)
Education:High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:1-3 years experience as an END I required.
Licenses:Certification by the American Board of Registration of ElectroencephalographicTechnologist (ABRET) or its equivalent required.Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) from American Heart Association or RedCross required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Is able to utilize ACNS guidelines and critical thinking skills to obtain asuperior quality EEG recording. Independent judgement and initiative a mustEmployee has completed and met their clinical competency standardsEnsures all duties, responsibilities and competencies are conducted in amanner that is effective and appropriate to patients/clients to whocare/service is being provided.Demonstrates knowledge and applicability of the principles of growth anddevelopment over the life span, as well as demonstrating the ability toassess data reflecting the patient's status and interpreting appropriatecultural information of the patient(s) to whom care/ services is beingdelivered/provided.Must be able to accurately describe the symptoms of malfunctioning equipmentand have a basic knowledge of the software platforms and there functions usedto record EEGDemonstrate sound judgement and decision making regarding the utilization ofhelp desk tickets
