This position is responsible for leading business development focused on the strategy, acquisition, onboarding, and commercialization / monetization of third-party sellers onto Sysco's ecommerce platform. The Senior Director will be a key leader in Sysco's ecommerce evolution, which is accelerated by a focused supplier acquisition strategy and standardized onboarding process. This role has the expectation of developing best in class practices to achieve business goals (including developing a diverse set of suppliers nationally to drive new business and penetration of existing business along with monetizing supplier presence on Sysco Marketplace) while enabling an optimal seller experience.
A successful candidate will lead a team of business development personnel and lead the development of the acquisition strategy, pitch materials while driving execution of onboarding operations and working closely with cross-functional executives. Additionally, candidate will be expected to directly engage the sellers in the foodservice sector and continue engaging them to create win-win opportunities for Sysco and sellers growing sales on Sysco marketplace.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead a business development team, establish a seller pipeline, and enable seller monetization
Establish relationships with potential sellers/suppliers and build partnerships that support mutual growthCreate a pipeline of high margin and high volume sellers across product categories that are differentiated for Sysco, to ensure accelerated vetting, negotiations, and onboarding to launch on the ecommerce platform.Develop a strategy to commercialize and monetize sellers via advertisements and tactics to create additional revenue streams
Development of seller acquisition roadmap
Work closely with the seller and category lead to understand the category onboarding roadmap and prioritizationDefine strategy to approach prospective sellers that align to the product assortment and merchandising strategy
Develop seller communication collateral
Design seller pitch guide to develop awareness and industry leading materials to excite potential sellersProvide oversight on the development of seller requirements and policies related to capabilities, onboarding, fulfillment, seller services and performance by understanding seller profiles and customer needs
Develop programs to ensure compliance and mitigate risks and launch enforcement strategies targeting problems related to high cancellation, late shipment, low quality seller services, and tiering of sellers to ensure good purchasing experiences for customers while balancing the seller experience and support required.
Analyze and evaluate seller product assortment, geographic reach, NPS scores / customer feedback to drive prioritization of seller onboarding.
Collaborate with other functional areas, including FSQA, tax, and customer service, to develop and execute successful seller and product onboarding based on functional requirements
Design account management principles and mechanisms to track, report, and monitor seller performance and health on a weekly basis.
Stay up to date with ecommerce industry trends and best practices, incorporating them into seller onboarding and management strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required: MBA (required from a top institution)Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business; MBA
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
10+ years of total experience (consulting experience and digital / ecommerce strategy experience preferred)Experience in business development roles on digital marketplaces / platforms and the ability to be a strong leader managing a team of business developers and account managersPast sales leadership roles and proven ability to sell new concepts to smaller and larger players in marketsDemonstrated success in strategic and operational roles within marketplace seller acquisition and onboardingStrong leadership, executive communication, and interpersonal skillsProven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (sellers, internal functions, etc.)Willingness to travel as needed to attend events for seller identification and scoping
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Leadership position in salesUnderstanding of system architecture / technology infrastructure to successfully deliver a digital marketplaceUnderstanding of the foodservice market and the ability to enable digital initiatives
