Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC four times per week.
The Role
GM Motorsports Competition Engineering is directly developing IndyCar tools to strengthen our Chevrolet powered race teams. You will assess and determine development direction of engineering tools used to create simulation and support tools across all our teams. Mentor up-and-coming engineers to engage and foster learning of high-performance vehicle dynamics while competing at the top level of motorsports. Demonstrate reliability to operate calmly under high pressure and short timelines. Travel to occasional races.
What You'll Do
Analyze race vehicle simulation data Provide direction to team support engineers in building of pre-event reports and post event correlation Manage 3-5 team support engineers and understand how to best help their assigned race teams and steer the overall program forward Collaborate across GM Motorsports programs to standardize and benefit our numerous top level race series with a complimentary tool chain Interact with and help all Chevrolet powered teams in areas of improvement necessary to compete for Championships Travel to key race and test events Develop metric tools to quickly address shortcomings observed in race events

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field 10 or more years of experience in motorsports engineering and motorsports simulation tools High performance vehicle dynamics Experience in managing race performance groups towards simulation improvements Data Presentation Ability to handle multiple programs efficiently Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
