EOEEA Human Resources (HR) Shared Services provides support and administers human resources programs and services to current and prospective EOEEA employees and agency business partners for the Secretariat including Massachusetts Environmental Police, and its six agencies and their divisions including: Department of Agricultural Resources and the State Reclamation Board – Mosquito Control Projects; Department of Conservation and Recreation; Department of Environmental Protection; Department of Fish and Game; Department of Public Utilities, and the Department of Energy Resources. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs seeks applicants for the position of Senior Deskside Technician. Reporting to the Director-Technical Services, the Sr. Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for performing complex hardware and software support, installation, compatibility and security checks for Windows and Mac based networked computers and peripherals. Incumbent must have specific knowledge of several of the following areas: Microsoft Windows, Office, Cloud products; LAN networking and networked multi-function devices. Provides technical support to the Secretariat and its agencies. DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: · Respond to complex user problems involving computer hardware and/or software. · Diagnose and troubleshoot software, network connections/devices, and hardware failures, · May interact with network services, software systems and applications development teams · Install and update computer application software as needed · Install local and network attached printers and other peripheral devices · Follow-up with customers to ensure issues have been resolved · Update tickets on a regular basis · Ensure issues are managed and resolved in a timely and professional manner · Provides technical support to Network, Telecom and Information Security administrators, as warranted · Reset AD passwords · Assist with coverage of Service Desk · Ensure all computers, notebooks, and devices meet the Commonwealth's requirements. · Manage the load distribution of endpoints · Maintain asset inventory · Complete surplus requests quarterly by taking obsolete equipment out of service and record asset disposal using established systems. · Participate in collaborative technology team efforts · Support cellular devices as needed · Liaise with other IT teams to troubleshoot any current integrated technology issues. · Participate Secretariat wide initiatives · Attend meetings and seminars to support the overall direction of the IT office · Serve as backup for other staff members in a mutually supportive teamwork environment and respond to system failure and maintenance emergencies. Preferred Qualifications: At least (A) four years of full time, or equivalent part time, professional relevant experience required, of which (B) at least three years must have been work directly related to the duties/responsibilities as outlined, or (C) Bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience. • Demonstrated ability and success in technical and process aspects of IT project management. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness. • Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, deadline-oriented customer focused environment. • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Must be creative and proactive. • Must have ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle difficult situations.
