The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team of Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs) at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC).
This position is eligible for a $5,000 recruitment payment. This position is also eligible for a $1500 retention payment for every 7 pay periods (14 weeks) of commitment.

GRC staff enjoy an exceptional workplace where mutual respect and support are part of the culture. You’ll discover a rewarding environment with a team of dedicated professionals treating adults, adolescents, and children with intellectual disabilities. The QIDPs are integral to the successful treatment of our clients, providing care in tandem with all care providers – Psychologists, Physicians, Nurses, Therapists, Pharmacists, Dentists, Dietitians, and Social Workers – to assure the best outcomes.
Nursing at GRC is pivotal to the success of patient treatment. Our Registered Nurses are skilled at assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention, with the ability to perform nursing procedures, including emergency care, within the scope of practice.
The effective RN will have the ability to communicate and collaborate with QIDP members, receive and transcribe physician orders, and report and document client conditions, care and treatments provided, nursing interventions implemented, and response to interventions.
Additionally, GRC RNs:
Provide functional clinical supervision and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and other unlicensed assistive personnel (i.e., certified medication aides and direct support staff).
Have oversight for the administration of medications.
Engage and implement performance improvement measures.
Collect and report data.
Participate in the nursing peer review process.
Among other training offerings, the RN will complete Mandatory Reporter of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse trainings as required by Iowa Code.
