　　About the Opportunity

　　Jacobs is currently recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join our Nuclear Power and Engineering Technical Services (NPETS) business. NPETS is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client’s UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor developers. Our work is varied, covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector.

　　This role will be based at one of our NPETS offices (Newcastle, Warrington, Knutsford, Gloucester or Dorchester). We put flexibility at the heart of what we do and we’re happy to consider flexible working patterns. Key responsibilities:

　　Take ownership of technical challenges, develop a strategy and implement the solution through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

　　Lead people on projects to deliver positive outcomes for clients.

　　Guide and mentor others on technical tasks.

　　Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of input data.

　　Produce design deliverables (assumption notes, technical specifications and calculation notes, etc).

　　Perform analysis tasks as necessary.

　　Oversight, verification and leadership for the preparation of Calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, Technical Reports, Inter-discipline design coordination and supervision.

　　Technical verifications of civil engineering documents.

　　Here’s What You’ll Need:

　　MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree level qualification.

　　Chartered or working towards chartership with relevant institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE).

　　Ability to work within, and where required, lead a design team, and also able to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams.

　　Good understanding of structural theory, with proven problem-solving ability.

　　Knowledge and previous experience in the design and/or construction of civil engineering solutions using Eurocodes (and ideally American codes).

　　Reinforced concrete design experience.

　　Steel design experience.

　　Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.

　　Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice.

　　Design experience in nuclear context (or similarly highly regulated context).

　　Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment

　　ONR Generic Design Assessment experience is desirable.
