Job Summary
As a Senior Accountant in the Peoria Record-to-Report group at Caterpillar, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role leading the Capital Assets shared services group, providing legal entity support, strategic focus and decision making on financial and transactional applications.
This position is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Global Business Services team and get exposure to working directly with out third-party shared service provider. Incumbent will provide technical expertise and perform complex accounting work that supports business processes.
What You Will Do:
Provides technical guidance and expertise within the Capital Assets function of Global Business Services.
Provides guidance and partners with Technical Accounting on business issues of high complexity such as financial reporting requirements for capital asset reporting.
Enterprise-wide primary Capital contact with ownership of PP&E accounting policies and the Capital Asset Manual.
Work closely with third party team to provide Capital services to Parent Company and Subsidiary customers.
Capital Management System (CMS) coordinator responsible for monthly freeze and Executive Office reporting, and annual target setting process.
Manage quarterly and annual accruals for specific Asset Retirement Obligations for the enterprise.
Create quarterly and annual depreciation projections to support Corporate Tax accruals.
Complete annual Capital footnote.
Support external audit.
What You Have:
Education/Experience: The position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business related degree and 7+ years of accounting experience.

Dec i s i o n M a king a n d C r i t ica l T h i n k i n g : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Eff e c t i v e C o mm uni c a t i on s: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Mana gi n g M u l t i p l e P ri o r i t ie s: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Acc oun t i n g : Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Business Unit and Legal entity experience.
Strong analytical, process improvement and problem-solving skills.
Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, or equivalent).
Experience with Financial Planning & Analysis systems (CMS, Smartstream, Microsoft Access, etc.).
Demonstrated success and progression in previously held accounting roles.
High level of initiative, leadership, and good judgment.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills with all levels of management and have a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar businesses, products, suppliers and customers.

This position would ideally be located in Peoria, IL ; however open to considering Irving, TX; Seguin, TX
