Savan Group is looking for a 508 Compliance Specialist, this position will be a critical part of our consulting team, and the ideal candidate must be able to assess and remediate program documentation. Additionally, the candidate should be able to assess and assist in remediating web content as well as online training for Section 508 compliance and per Web Accessibility Compliance Guidelines (WACG). Finally, the Senior 508 Specialist will support the development of Section 508-compliant templates that can be leveraged by team members to create program documentation. The ideal candidate will be able to review and make recommendations on program documentation to achieve Section 508 compliance.
Role Responsibilities:
Prepares and tests documents to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Excel)
Review and correct documents for Section 508 compliances.
Tests web content and online training for compliance with Section 508 and assists in remediation of any issues.
Prepares DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester reports.
Uses software tools to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and hyperlinks.
Prepares Section 508 compliant templates for authors to use in document preparation.
Stays current on Section 508 policy and federal agency accessibility checklists.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Certified DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
4+ years of experience creating and testing documents for compliance with Section 508 requirements (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Excel)
4+ years of experience editing, proofing, or copyediting technical information.
3+ years of testing and assisting in the remediation of web content and online training.
Current on Section 508 policy and accessibility checklists
Demonstrated experience providing accurate Section 508 compliant documents.
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple ongoing activities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively complete individual tasks, work in a team environment, and be proactive with little guidance.
US citizenship
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Articulate 360 and other training software
Experience with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) programs or other Privacy/information security programs
Experience training and coaching team members in Section 508 best practices
Public Trust Clearance or higher
