About Security (unarmed)

  Maintains a safe and secure environment for patients and employees by patrolling and monitoring the premises, both exterior and interior of facility.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Responsible for securing premises by patrolling property, conducting hourly rounds, ensuring security of doors, windows, and grounds, monitoring surveillance equipment, and monitoring visitors and guests.

  Escorts staff to and from their vehicles after hours.

  Provides a visual security presence.

  Monitors all mechanical systems to ensure they are functioning properly, checking for the following:

  Failure indications on control panels

  Standing water and fire hazards

  Any failures observed during mechanical checks

  Responds to alarms and all codes.

  Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.

  Familiar with and understands Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital’s Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures.

  Monitors visitation hours, keeps control in lobby area, secures visitor items in locked cabinets, and helps transport visitors to visitation area.

  Provides assistant to Intake with transporting patient to inpatient unit.

  Answers telephone calls, takes messages, answers questions, and provides information during hours PBX is closed.

  Performs outside custodial duties as needed.

  Works effectively with all departments.

  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday - 5:30PM to 5:30AM

  Requirements

  High School Diploma or equivalent required

  Knowledge of safety and security practices

  Minimum two (2) years Security experience required, preferably in a health care environment

  Excellent communication skills

  Ability to act with urgency in an emergency situation

  Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports.

  Sensitivity and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

  Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately.

  Ability to work in various adverse conditions such as temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors.

  Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
