　　Job Summary and Qualifications

　　Position Summary: Under supervision of the Director of Emergency Department the Manager oversees the daily operations of the unit. The manager works collaboratively with the Director in guiding their department’s growth, patient satisfaction, physician’s relations and fiscal responsibility. The manager supervises and directs the delivery of patient care and care related services for the Emergency Department in accordance to administrative policies, as well as hospital vision, mission and strategies. The manager works collaboratively with staff, physicians, and other disciplines within the hospital to create a system of safe, quality health care.

　　Essential Functions:

　　• Maintain expert clinical knowledge of areas within the department

　　• Manage day to day operations involving scheduling, patient rounding and ensure patient satisfaction

　　• Assist with competency development

　　• Assist with patient flow

　　• Interview and hire personnel

　　• Assess and evaluate employee work performance; implement learning plans and complete staff yearly evaluations

　　• Counsel staff; implement disciplinary process when indicated, including termination

　　• Provide leadership in compliance with regulatory agency standards, national nursing standards and specialty nursing standards

　　• Evaluate patient outcomes

　　• Assist Director with unit budget

　　• Maintain quality audits and monitor daily core measures

　　• Monitor supply management

　　• Promotes internal and external customer satisfaction

　　• Builds and promotes a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement

　　• Attendance, works as scheduled

　　• Daily operations of Point of Care Testing [POCT]; includes but not limited to: decision making, response to problems, error identification and corrective action.

　　• Perform quality control and maintenance on laboratory analyzers and POCT.

　　• Perform laboratory testing and POCT applicable to the FSED

　　• All other duties as assigned

　　Qualifications:

　　• Registered Nurse with an active license to practice in New Hampshire required

　　• Bachelors or Masters of Science in Nursing preferred

　　• American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS; American Red Cross or American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire; TNCC within 6 months of hire; PALS within 6 months of hire

　　• Minimum three to four years’ nursing experience required

　　• One to two years progressive managerial or supervisory experience preferred
