Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Leavenworth, KS - roughly 20 miles northwest of Kansas City. Built in 1827, it is the second oldest active United States Army post west of Washington, D.C. Responsibilities Serves as the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth Special Security Officer (SSO). Plans and performs Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security management functions in all intelligence-related security disciplines. Technically and administratively supervises work, operations, personnel, and resources. Oversees the security administration and management of SCI pertaining to the receipt, control, safeguarding and accountability of SCI products. Manages all security actions and procedures necessary for the accreditation of three Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
