The Manager, Security has primary responsibility for Environmental Safety and Security Management functions as specified by the Entity President. This position has the authority to select and motivate the performance of the security staff assigned at the campus.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility for the safety and security management programs for the campus.
Maintains current and satisfactory knowledge of safety and security standards including Joint Commission, PADOH, OSHA and NFPA.
Schedules security officers to provide adequate coverage of shifts at the facility based on ongoing risk assessment activity including special events, holidays, seasonal activity and weekends.
Designs, implements and maintains a system of security for the campus including security cameras, access control, alarms and other technologies.
Collects safety, security, and emergency management data. Recommends and implements performance improvement initiatives based on organizational priorities.
Coordinates and provides safety and security training for the organization’s leaders and staff.
Designs security response plans to meet unique needs of the campus.
Ensures preventative maintenance and testing is performed on security and safety and response assets including emergency communications equipment.
Responds to emergency situations including external and internal disasters, evacuations, hazardous material spills, patient decontamination events and fires. Such responses may include temporary redeployment to another campus.
Prepares and presents safety and security management education programs for the organization’s leaders and staff.
Maintains the master chemical inventory and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database.
Implements safety management corrective action plans based on After Action Reports (AAR).
Participates in the design of Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) for construction projects and inspects construction sites for compliance with safety regulations.
Performs scheduled safety inspection and performance improvement rounds.
Maintains documentation to satisfy regulatory and accreditation standard requirements.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to eight (8) hours per day, five (5) hours at a time; standing for up to eight (8) hours per day, four (4) hours at a time; walking for up to eight (8) hours per day, five hours at a time. Must be able eligible to wear respiratory protection equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for up to 20 minutes while carrying out semi-rigorous physical activity. Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Hearing as it relates to the ability for addressing questions in educational settings and responding under emergent conditions. Visual acuity as it relates to the ability to read printed information and to supervise implementation of emergency response systems; need not be color perspective so long as there is an ability to distinguish between differing shades.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or Graduation Equivalence Diploma (GED) and evidence of continuing education in safety and/or emergency management provided by a credible organization or related U.S. Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as documented in service record (Form-DD-214) required. Certified Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM), Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), or Associate Degree (or higher) in related field preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years in a safety position or experience with a public agency such as the Emergency Medical System (EMS), fire service, law enforcement, county emergency management or U.S. Military. Two (2) years demonstrated experience in leadership role required. Must complete Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) NICM courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 within three (3) months of hire. Microsoft Office computer application skills a must.
