Position Summary: *Children’s Aid (CA), established in 1853, is one of New York City’s leading child and family service organizations. The Bronx Family Center operates Child Welfare Family Services, Early Childhood programming, a health clinic, a teen center, and more. The campus is comprised of four buildings; 910 E 172ndStreet, 1515 Southern Blvd, Gospel Center, and the Next Generation Center. CA is looking for a Security Manager to join the Bronx Campus Security Team. TheSecurity Manager*will have oversight over security staff and outside security vendors. The Bronx Campus Security Manager will also be responsible for collaborating with facilities, program, and administration staff to create a safe, secure, user-friendly work environment for staff, guests, trustees, clients, and families.
*Essential Duties: *
Assist the Assistant Director of Security with updating safety and security plans as needed for each facility, including policies and procedures, which are common to all properties, along with security-specific protocols designed to accommodate specific physical or use characteristics. Learn and follow all existing safety protocols.
Interface and collaborate with outside government agencies as directed to ensure that safety plans embody contemporary best practices and take full advantage of third-party community and regional support resources offered through government law enforcement, health and safety, emergency planning, and related offices and informational resources.
Maintain all safety compliance requirements for all locations within the Bronx Campus. Assist with designing and implementing staff training modules to improve awareness of safety and security plans and protocols. Conduct training and drills. Develop, train, and test response teams for each site within the Bronx Campus. Serves as lead on the emergency response team. Responds to all safety-related incidents and emergencies; involved in crisis situations.
Supervise and coordinate the efforts of security operations staff embedded in various locations within the Bronx Campus including hiring, scheduling, training, and management of staff to support safe operations of all those locations.
Assist the Assistant Director of Security in oversight of vendor contracts related to security. Coordinate communications among and between security staff and vendor management.
Oversight of security operations staff will include management of both agency-wide and site-specific activities, event planning, and scheduling, to improve the quality of a safe work environment.
Prepare weekly security updates reports for executive staff, and keep current logs of site conditions and activities.
Has working knowledge of security camera systems.
Back up other security posts as needed.
Escorts staff to safety as needed; assists with arranging car service as needed.
Take coaching, training, and development as needed.
Recognize and report signs of drug use, child abuse, or criminal activity.
Professional Development
Participate in offered trainings, workshops, In-Service days, and/or All-Staff conferences.**
Maintain certification requirements and proof of attendance in professional activities.
Health and Safety
Adhere to all state and city licensing requirements and CPR/first aid certification.
Maintain a safe environment.
*Minimum Qualifications: *
High School diploma/GED required.
Possess at least 5 years of continuous and relevant work experience in a related field, in security and business operations in a multi-floor or building environment required.
De-escalation training required.
Ability to lift or carry 20 lbs. or more.
Security certifications, including active shooter within 120 days of hire. Emergency response training including AED/CPR certifications within 120 days of hire.
COF (Certificates of Fitness) Ability to obtain S95= Supervisor of Fire Alarm Systems, W07= Fire Drill Conductor, within 120 days of hire.
Key Competencies:
Candidate should possess supervisory experience and also be comfortable working in Microsoft Office Suite.
Possess a strong sense of initiative and responsibility, and have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Previous law enforcement or military experience is a plus. Previous work experience in a non-profit or institutional setting is also helpful.
Able to work comfortably with a diverse array of staff, clients, and vendors.
Professional approach; resourceful, dependable, and approachable.
Bilingual English/Spanish helpful.
