Job Description:
Western Colorado University invites applications for a full-time facultyposition as Lecturer and Director of the Screenwriting Concentration in theGraduate Program in Creative Writing. The position is a full-time,twelve-month position at the rank of lecturer. The Graduate Program inCreative Writing is a low-residency program that offers both Masters andMaster of Fine Arts degrees in Creative Writing with concentrations in GenreFiction, Nature Writing, Poetry, and Screenwriting, as well as a Mastersconcentration in Publishing. During the academic year, all of the Program'scourses and events are delivered online, using Zoom and Canvas, and mostfaculty, including Concentration Directors, work remotely. During the lastweek of July, students and faculty are required to come to Western's campus inGunnison, Colorado for the program's annual residency.Candidates with a passion for the cultivation of thoughtful, sociallyconscious screenwriters working in diverse genres and styles are encouraged toapply.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
$50,212 base salary plus a director's stipend of $6,000 and additionalcompensation of $4,500 for summer teaching, and $3000 for thesis mentoring,for $63,712 in total annual compensation. Benefits include anemployee/employer shared contribution retirement plan, life andhealth insurance, as well as professional activity support. Dependent tuitionreduction benefits after one year of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree in creative writing, film, or closely-related fieldProven administrative abilityAt least 3 years' experience in university-level teaching or closeequivalentDemonstrated commitment to culturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogiesExperience teaching online or hybrid coursesStrong professional portfolio demonstrating screenwriting expertise inmultiple genres and media and/or record of industry experience spanning atleast three years
Preferred Qualifications:MFA in creative writing, film, or closely-related fieldFamiliarity with the low-residency MFA program modelExperience developing curriculum and overseeing pedagogyAbility to recruit students across all communitiesExperience teaching both TV and FilmExperience in the day-to-day business of working with agents, managers, andactors, writing/rewriting to deadlines, and pitching projects tostudios/producersStrong professional network
