PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

　　Operates the screed of asphalt paver1. Operates back of spreader to regulate thickness of asphalt.2. Uses cranks on back of spreader to adjust thickness of asphalt.3. Uses depth rod to determine thickness of asphalt; makes necessary adjustments to meet specifications.4. Operates automatic screed sled as required by work conditions / specifications.5. Uses shovel to rake and meet required asphalt thickness by filling holes/ low spots.6. Assists Laborers and Rakers in leveling surface.7. Checks vehicle(s) prior to operating by completing required CDL check lists.8. Performs other duties as assigned.

　　PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:

　　High school graduate or equivalent preferredAbility to read, write and complete equipment reports.Valid license and favorable traffic abstract. CDL Type B preferred.5 years on-the-job experience in Paving as a Laborer, Hand roller or Asphalt Raker preferred.Ability to work as a team member.Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulationsKnowledge of automation system for grade control.Knowledge of grades, slopes, terrain; and areas to gauge material required.Ability to use rakes, shovels, mobile brooms, road sweeper, screed, tamper plate and busterAbility to walk continuously during the course of the workdayRequires lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 poundsAbility to work flexible hours, overtime, nights, holidays, weekends as required by the job.We primarily employ carpenters, laborers,and operating engineers. We are signatory to collective bargaining agreements with the following unions listed below and are subject to the hiring rules of each collective bargaining agreement. We anticipate hiring for projects on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai as work becomes available and will be contacting the respective union to fill these positions:
