Sales Use Tax Accountant

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: JBS is seeking a Sales Use Tax Accountant to join our growing tax department. This position will be responsible for all aspects of state and local sales use tax, including the preparation of the multi-state sales and use tax returns, analyzing transaction level details, conducting audit defense, and completing tax related accounting. The individual must be detail-oriented and able to meet tax deadlines. This position is located fully onsite at our Corporate office in Greeley, Colorado.

Responsibilities:

Lead accountant in all areas of sales and use tax

Review and prepare account reconciliations

General ledger analysis and preparation or review of journal entries

Perform queries and reports from SAP and Vertex

Review or prepare multi-state sales and use tax returns, including payment requests

Lead accountant on sales and use tax audits

Assist with providing documentation to independent auditors

Assist in gathering information, answering inquiries and working with outside consultants regarding sales and use tax

Communicate with Company operating units regarding sales/use tax accruals, payments and returns

Handle notices and communications from tax authorities

Perform research related to new tax laws and/or tax planning projects

Complete special tax projects assigned by tax leadership

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or equivalent experience

4-6+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a large corporation

Vertex and/or SAP experience a plus

CPA, CMI or other relevant certification a plus

Strong technical tax skills

Strong analytical, problem solving, and accounting skills

Strong ledger and account reconciliation experience

Detail oriented and deadline driven

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to work with little or no supervision

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and other Office Products

Must be able to communicate with all levels of employees and management

Must be able to meet internal and external deadlines

Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

Base salary range of $65,000-$80,000;

Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
