  Job Scope: The DC Safety Leader plans, implements, and coordinates SEAL programs to reduce or eliminate the following at the facility level: occupational injuries and illnesses, violations of federal and state safety regulations; proactively participate in the workers compensation system management; and financial losses stemming from any of the previous. They also develop and implement programs to improve the new hire orientation and training processes on the distribution floor.

  Climate: Must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization’s success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Some irregular hours (supporting multiple shifts) and travel between local sites is required.

  Job Functions:

  · Actively promote and advocate safe work practices as THE primary priority.

  · Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes.

  · Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.

  · Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

  · Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and assist with implementing preventive measures.

  · Review all aspects of jobs and equipment to ensure all safety requirements are being met.

  · Report findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, and/or environmental testing.

  · Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.

  · Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, PPE, hazardous condition monitoring, and safe work practices.

  · Keep current with safety practices and provide technical advice and guidance on related issues.

  · Interpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety inspectors.

  · Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, hospitals and urgent care centers, and rescue teams so that emergency responses can be facilitated.

  · Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.

  · Supervise safety and training teams and develop the proficiency of managers in regards to safety.

  · Performs other duties as assigned.

  Qualifications:

  · BS in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, EH&S, Industrial Technology, Safety Engineering, Human Resources, other related degree or equivalent experience.

  · History of working in a distribution/warehouse environment – 3 year or more preferred.

  · Helpful to be CSP, CHMM and/or CWCP certified.

  · Business acumen, leadership, presentation skills.

  · Team player with the potential to lead/drive teams.

  · Superior communication skills.

  · Ability to manage conflict and maintain composure in tense situations.

  · Familiar with planning, organizing, and prioritizing workload.

  · Able to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion.

  · Judgment, problem solving, technical knowledge, and negotiating skills.

  · Organizational agility/getting things done through others.

  · Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.

  · Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  · Lean manufacturing/6S/visual factory experience.

  · Must complete all OSHA required training.

  · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  · Ability to use MS Office Products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

  · Must successfully pass post-offer screening and review of background.
