If so, the Security Information and Awareness team at Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an Intelligence and Counterintelligence Professional (Limited Term Employee)! You will leave work every day knowing that you made a difference in our nation's security and supporting Safeguards & Security (S&S) to protect and defend Sandia against insider threats.
Safeguards & Security is seeking an S&S Insider Threat Analyst to conduct insider threat assessments, assist to develop and grow the Sandia insider threat program, perform research and analyses, and communicate results to the S&S Center Director and the Local Insider Threat Working Group (LITWG). The successful candidate will also assist with coordination of S&S-related LITWG responsibilities, referrals, projects, and training activities.
For this role, you must be a self-starter, be able to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work on multiple projects concurrently. The candidate must be able to prioritize effectively to meet mission directives, successfully collaborate with other analysts and investigators, display critical thinking and problem solving skills, and effective communication skills (oral and written).
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Be the authority on insider threat by performing insider threat and risk assessments, analyze data collected for potential threats and insider threat risks.Collaborate with Counterintelligence and S&S program leads to build, maintain, and regularly update the S&S rubrics for insider threat concerns. You will strengthen internal S&S insider threat analysis methodologies to satisfy investigatory, programmatic, corporate, and DOE requirements and provide determinations on insider threat risk and protect against possible insider threats.Participate, collaborate, and provide S&S support on diverse teams with participants to include; Cyber, Counterintelligence, HR, and Ethics.Develop and maintain a list of S&S insider threat triggers (behavioral or indicators) to facilitate timely analysis of potential alerts.Recognize emerging trends or patterns and warn of unanticipated insider threats.Develop and report out analyses and finished assessment products to deliver accurate, useful, and actionable information to customers.Identify, evaluate, develop, and integrate threat analysis tools and solutions; work with partners and key stakeholders to assess and beta-test threat analysis tools, behavior analytics tools, and other data loss protection and security incident management tools.Support internal reviews and security access determinations by assessing derogatory information.Brief senior and/or executive leadership regarding assessment results and/or risks.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in National Security, Business, Marketing, Communications, Criminology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Cyber Security or relevant field, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.Ability to acquire and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
Qualifications We Desire:
Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant field plus one (1) year of relevant experience.Demonstrated skill using and applying threat analysis tools and user behavior analytics.Background and or familiar with Cyber Security & Risk Management concepts, tools, policies, and processes.Familiarity with the writing, testing, and deploying of user activity monitoring strategies for monitoring and auditing of information system activities for early discovery and mitigation of insider threat behavior.Familiarity with data loss prevention security controls and security incident and event management tools.Experience conducting analysis, analytic research, data compilation to perform analysis, and preparing written reports and other communiqués.Analytical problem-solving skills and a keen ability and desire to identify trends and patterns in data.Organizational and cross-functional communications skills to disseminate and present findings to key stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills to successfully deliver briefings, talks, and situational reports to diverse audiences including senior and executive leadership.Ability to work independently and creatively without guidance or direction, continuously finding solutions to complex problems.Demonstrated history at excelling at working and collaborating within a diverse team and proactively partnering with peers and team members.Active Q clearance.
About Our Team:
Org. 9257, Security Information and Awareness is part of Sandia's Safeguards & Security (S&S) Center, whose primary function is protection and support of Sandia's mission, information, resources, and people. We strive to develop strategic partnerships and provide effective tools and resources to fully integrate security into every aspect of the work performed at Sandia. The Security Information and Awareness Department comprises Security Connection, Security Awareness, Operations Security (OPSEC) and Insider Threat. The department is responsible for providing information and assistance that all Members of the Workforce need to perform their work in a secure manner. Information is disseminated via the Security Connection knowledgebase, in Security Awareness briefings, through security-related training, and through interaction and assessment of activities via the OPSEC Program. The S&S Insider Threat program partners with various entities across Sandia to assess, analyze and mitigate risks against the insider threat.
This position is specifically for the Insider Threat Program.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Position Information:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
