DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Monitor defendants released from the Monroe County Jail into the community for compliance with conditions ordered by the courtMaximize success through developing and maintaining rapport with clients during all phases of release.Meet with newly released clients to identify primary intervention needs and risks.Develop a plan in conjunction with that client that appropriately addresses both the risks and needs.Meet personally and make telephone contacts with clients on a regular basis to monitor compliance to court and/or intervention requirements.Monitor the client's progress in the course of treatment/Intervention and make appropriate alterations to plans when indicatedMake telephone and personal contacts with defense counsel, judges, district attorneys, courts and jail personnel when neededMake collateral contacts by phone or writing for the purpose of verifying compliancePerform urine screening as neededMake accurate and timely reports to the court of jurisdiction on clients' compliance with conditions, both in writing and, periodically, in person at court appearancesMaintain accurate and up to date records both manually and on the agency data base regarding client compliance and contractsDevelop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all components of the criminal justice system, allied systems, and community based intervention programsMaintain strict confidentiality of protected informationMake contact with clients in the Monroe County Jail, when indicatedPerform any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the administration of Pre-Trial Services CorporationFacilitate educational classes as needed
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:This position requires that the RUS Case Manager walk to and from the Monroe County downtown jail and the Hall of Justice, two blocks away from the agency's location, up to several times per week.This position requires sitting in a courtroom for up to two hours broken up with brief periods of time to interact with defendants, attorneys, or court personnel. This position requires climbing stairs to access the Hall of Justice and parts of the jail to access clients and the courts.
The position requires that the RUS Case Manager be able to communicate verbally and hear responses in noisy environments such as the jail and the courts.The RUS Case Manager must be able to enter information into the agency data base and utilize email for notifications.The employee must be able to walk from his/her desk to retrieve documents from a central location in the agency and to use the criminal justice record (MoRIS) computer to retrieve such records.This position requires extensive use of the telephone for contacting defendants, collateral contacts and courts.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of counseling, psychology, or social work, experience in the field of social work or counseling a plus.ORA Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of counseling, psychology, or social work with a minimum of one (1) year of full time, paid experience in the field of social work or counseling.ORAny combination of training, education and/or experience as deemed equivalent by the Executive Director of Pre-Trial Services.
