　　Position Description: RN

　　The Registered Nurse in pediatric cardiac critical care works in a hospital setting and independently cares for a group of pediatric cardiac ICU patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards. Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team. The Registered Nurse in pediatric cardiac ICU is also responsible for professional accountability and development.

　　Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in critical care

　　Monitor, record, and update care team on patient vitals and assessments.

　　Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

　　Responding to medical emergencies for critical patients

　　Coordinates and documents appropriate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care after discharge

　　High emotional intelligence to create a positive patient care experience that includes simplifying medical terminology and concepts to the patient

　　Registered Nurse license

　　BLS

　　At least 6 months pediatric critical care experience

　　Associates Degree in Nursing

　　Preferred:

　　PCICU RN with at least 1 year experience

　　BSN

　　ACLS

　　PALS
