About Reserving Actuary

Job Description

An insurance provider in the New York City, NY area is looking for a Reserving Actuary, Global Liability Specialty Lines. We are seeking an ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) or FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society). or FCAS to join Sompo Internationals Global Liability and Specialty Lines reserving team. The opportunity is for a six to twelve month placement with the option for a long-term permanent role. The successful candidate will support the main quarterly reserving process and setting of the Actuarial Central Estimates. Duties and Responsibilities:

o Assist in the peer review of the actuarial central estimate indications for the liability and specialty lines produced by the Insurance and Reinsurance Segment/ACE reserving teams.

o Assist in the monitoring of loss ratio planning assumptions as well as supporting the annual business planning process.

o Provide support in producing materials for the Sompo International Group Loss Reserve committee and business unit leaders regarding reserve selections, movements during the quarter, ACE indications, and trends/risks.

o Assist in the development and implementation of frameworks aimed at improving efficiency of existing processes. This may include contributing to cross-function projects focused on data quality, data flows and early close; accelerating the completion time for the quarterly ACE analysis.

o Assist in the maintenance of actuarial assumptions in the reserving platform.

o Develop relationships with Actuarial Pricing, Risk, Claims, Finance, and Financial Planning Analysis and leverage these relationships to enhance an understanding of Sompo Internationals business and processes.

o Support other special projects as required by the business.

Skills and Requirements

ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) or FCAS (Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society)

 5-10 years of actuarial experience

 3 years of reserving experience preferred

 Insurance/Reinsurance experience a must / a few years of reserving preferred

 ResQ, SQL, Visual Basic experience 3 years of reserving experience preferred

 Commercial Insurance knowledge a plus but not required. null
