Our modern facilities have been thoughtfully constructed to foster a team science approach to research and well-being. The MK-MDT investigators and staff work collaboratively with academic and community research partners in the United States and Canada using a community-based participatory research framework. This position will serve multiple projects currently underway or planned at the MK-MDT and will require excellent time management and project management skills. Duties/Responsibilities: Reporting to the Associate Director and Project PIs, the Researcher 5 will: 90%: Research, Grant Writing, and Other Scholarly Activities Coordinate and manage project timelines and deliverables with Principal Investigator(s). Coordinate and schedule research meetings. Act as project leader in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator(s). Create data analysis plans. Identify UMN data resources and collaborate with other UMN centers, institutes and programs, and state agencies. Manage and track online databases. Collect, manage, and analyze data for epidemiological, geospatial, and other health studies. Conduct and write literature reviews and methodological summaries for grant proposals, manuscripts, and scientific conferences and meetings. Develop research articles, manuscripts, and reports. Draft research proposals and grant applications. Assist in writing IRB applications and research protocols. Collaborate with the MK-MDT team on research, policy, and community opportunities that broadly impact dementia and related chronic disease in Indigenous and rural communities. Work collaboratively and with staff and community partners and in alignment with MK-MDT values to support the MK-MDT vision and mission. Engage in other duties related to MK-MDT projects focused on rural and Indigenous dementia and brain health equity. Engage in other administrative duties as needed. 10%: Public Engagement and Communications Attend and present at community and scientific events, conferences, and meetings. Assist in writing scientific content for the public. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in epidemiology, health, social sciences, or similar discipline with 1 or more years of research training Ability to collect, manage, and analyze quantitative data. Knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy rules for the protection of human subjects, including issues pertaining to mapping health data in rural and Indigenous communities. Experience conducting health science and geospatial analyses. Working knowledge of ESRI Products such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, StoryMap, Survey123, and ArcGIS Dashboards. Ability to synthesize and format a variety of data into spatial frameworks for analysis. Ability to travel, including overnight, to locations in Minnesota and to national and international conferences. Must have a valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience with social science research. Skills in grant writing and manuscript preparation. Knowledge of federal regulations and policies and procedures for studies submitted to the University Institutional Review Board, including projects that include cooperative research projects that may include a memorandum of understanding and/or a data sharing agreement. Knowledge of best practices in numeracy nd data visualization. Familiarity with biostatistics and modeling. Experience with community-based participatory research projects with Indigenous and rural communities. Knowledge or experience of rural and/or Indigenous health/health equity issues. Knowledge of the health of older adults and/or age-related neurological conditions. Understanding of rural and/or Indigenous health systems, health access, and/or quality of care research. Experience developing surveys and interview guides. Experience drafting or writing grant applications, ethics protocols and research reports. Demonstrated experience with knowledge transfer; ability to write for diverse audiences. Peer-reviewed publication record. Project management skills. Experience in community outreach, community engagement and/or research partner development.
