  Context of job:

  The University of Delaware’s Stigma and Health Inequities Lab in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences seeks a Research Technician II to assist with research aimed at improving relationships among people in recovery from substance use disorders. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Research Technician II will perform tasks related to supporting data collection and management. The principal emphasis is on delivering a brief intervention and collecting, securing, and managing data from sites in Newark and Wilmington, Delaware.

  Major responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with research team members to support the implementation of a brief intervention to improve relationships among people in recovery from substance use disorders.

  • Follow intervention protocols.

  • Manage administrative tasks related to the project including but not limited to recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting surveys, leading interviews, and storing and organizing data.

  • Maintain ethical standards in research, participant interactions and data management.

  • Provide timely, accurate study updates on a weekly basis.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  Qualifications:

  • GED/High School Diploma.

  • Experience and/or interest in working with individuals receiving treatment for a substance use disorder preferred.

  • Ability to use or learn computer applications including but not limited to: Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Slack and Dedoose.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and research protocols.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong ethic and commitment to missions.

  • This position will require local travel in Wilmington and Newark, Delaware.
