The Research Technician will complete independentresearch projects to assist the Virology Research Lab Director. Theseprojects, will include cloning, mutagenesis, PCR, DNA sequencing, cellculture, and synthetic biology as well as routine laboratoryhousekeeping tasks (making media, cleaning glassware, etc). JobDescription: The Research Technician assists the Principal Investigatorin charge of the lab by providing efficient workflow processes in thelab. Performs various research experiments, keeps accurate notes,interprets and presents data and completes research projectsindependently. Responsiblefortheday to day operations of theTranslational Research lab including working with interns and volunteersto assist in training and oversight. Major Responsibilities: 1. Performassigned research experiments. 2. Responsible for laboratory maintenanceduties. 3. Organize and tabulate experimental data in laboratorynotebooks and enters the information in the computer. 4. Completeindependent research projects leading to publications in peer-reviewedscientific journals. 5. Maintain and care for laboratory animals. 6.Work with new employees and volunteers to orient, train and assessskills. 7. Participate in 10 hours of project related educationalactivities per annum in a self-directed manner. This may include readingjournal articles, viewing on-line webinars or participating in otherself-directed continuing education activities 8. Performs otherjob-related responsibilities as requested.
