  A Brief OverviewDr. Hogarty is pediatric oncologist with both clinical and research responsibilities. On the clinical side, he hasdeveloped expertise in the management of patients with neuroblastoma, germ cell tumors, and histiocytic diseases (such as Langerhans cell histiocytosis and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or LCH and HLH). He helps coordinate the care of children with these diseases at Children's Hospital, and have roles in the international community in developing clinical and translational programs for neuroblastoma and histiocytic diseases. This involves leadership roles within the Children's Oncology Group (COG), the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group (INRG), and the International Histiocyte Society.

  We are a translationally-focused lab group focused on finding and characterizing new therapies for high-risk neuroblastoma, a common solid tumor in children. For this position, we are seeking a qualified technician for a project focusing on modulating the solid tumor immune microenvironment to enhance neuroblastoma therapies. We are seeking someone proficient in molecular biology techniques (gene expression profiling, immunoblotting, cytokine profiling) and prefer an individual with some experience with basic data analysis and/or informatics skill. Also, having to a willingness to particpate in mouse experiments is optional.

  What you will doPerforms research procedures on experimental samples with minimal supervisionFormulates and performs complex lab experiments and analyzes/ reports the dataPerforms tasks that require knowledge of advanced techniques and lab equipmentPerforms advanced calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooksAssists with planning specific research protocols and proceduresAssists in development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideasMay be required to modify scientific methods and protocols (in conjunction with PI)Checks others' results for completeness and accuracyMay be responsible for training and mentoring new staffMay assist in the preparation of grants journal articles, posters and oral presentationsMay perform routine and non-routine tests / experiments as neededMaintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipmentPerforms routine maintenance on lab equipmentCoordinates schedules of tests & proceduresAttends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniquesRecords results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized mannerConducts literary searches as required

  Education QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GED RequiredBachelor's Degree Preferred

  Experience QualificationsAt least two (2) years of related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg. Wistar, WPSI) and research laboratory experience RequiredAt least three (3) years of related classroom experience or successful completion of a technical training program (eg.
