About the Department
The Department of Pathology has a long and rich history of excellence inclinical service, training, and research. Our physicians and scientistsare experts in a variety of subspecialties in anatomic pathology,laboratory medicine, genomics and molecular pathology, investigationalpathology, and immunology. Our diverse faculty study and diagnosepatient disease and medical conditions using state-of-the-artmethodologies. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded bycontractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by thegrantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon thecontinued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Job Summary
As a Research Specialist, you will perform research focused onepithelial barrier regulation; this work will include mouse models,organoid models, and epithelial cell culture. Emphasizing the growth andbanking of organoid models and cell lines; physiological, cellbiological, and disease modeling; and drug testing - ultimately, thisresearch is expected to lead to the improved understanding of multipledisease states, with a particular emphasis in gastrointestinal diseases.As an integral member of the team, you may also collaborate with otherlaboratories and faculty members as well as with other researchscientists at various levels of training within the home laboratory.
Responsibilities
Provides technical and administrative support for a researchproject.Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists withpreparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.Assists with the installation, sets up and performs experiments;interacting with students and other laboratory staff under thedirection of the principal investigator.May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assistingwith developing or amending study protocols; assisting withdeveloping data collection tools; assisting with building databases;and providing general administrative support. Is developing skillsin research techniques or methods, regulatory policies andprocedures, and relevant scientific field.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or theequivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have afour-year degree).
