  Job Description Summary

  The Maillard laboratory is seeking to hire a new laboratory technician to complete its current research team, as well as to replace a current research specialist departing to graduate school. The laboratory has been launched progressively at the University of Pennsylvania since 01/2018 after moving from the University of Michigan. To best support the productivity of our team, we are planning to hire a laboratory technician who will primarily aid with management of our complex mouse colony, including mouse breeding, weaning, ear tagging, genotyping and phenotyping. This is a growing task that is essential for our research program. In addition, the new technician will be asked to assist with the projects of our graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. In this regard, previous experience on processing animal tissues and staining samples for flow cytometry would be a plus. We have designed the position to be split roughly 60:40 between tasks related to management of the mouse colony plus other routine laboratory tasks (under the supervision of lab manager Anneka Allman), and involvement in research projects related to the role of Notch signaling in mature T and B lymphocytes as well as Notch signaling in the pathogenesis of T cell lymphomas. Dr. Maillard will provide overall supervision of the new technician.

  Help in the general running of the lab, including: ordering, receiving items, and maintaining lab organization

  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
