Reality Labs at Meta is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative interns with an interest in applied and fundamental research in fields related to displays and optics with relevance to augmented and virtual reality.Reality Labs at Meta Display and Optics Hardware team is looking for an exceptional and highly self-motivated Research intern to help us develop the next generation products at reality labs.Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Required Skills:
Research Scientist Intern, Diffraction and Polarization Optics (PhD) Responsibilities:
Design and implementation of experiments or models that explore novel optical materials, films, components for AR/VR display systems.
Work with the intern host on antenna Demonstration and characterization of prototypes with internal and/or external partners. and optimization to meet given antenna KPIs, or work with the intern host on new antenna technology investigation and introduction in the areas of AR/VR
Data analysis and correlation study on optical characterization data.
Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines (human factors, optics, metrology).
Communication of research agenda, progress and results over the course of the intern project.
Final presentation for cross-functional partners on the publication-worthy results.
Minimum Qualifications:

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of optical science, liquid crystal materials, physics, materials, or related field.
Extensive hands-on experience in designing optical experiments and metrology.
Proficient in different EDA/EM tools, such as CST, Ability to collaborate across teams and to interact with groups and people across the world. , ADS, XFDTD and other tools such as Matlab, ADS, and Optenni La
Familiar with at least one programming language, i.e. Matlab, Python, Shell
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

Experience in designing/modeling of liquid crystal films and optical devices.
Understanding AR/VR lens and display optics.
Experience with optical films and coatings and their manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated relevant industry experience via an internship or work experience.
Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated in accepted papers at international peer-reviewed publications or conferences.

$7,313/month to $11,333/month + benefits
