The Research Scientist will help execute collaborative research projects investigating population health problems in the United States. These projects are led by social scientists within the Center for Policy Research and the Center for Aging and Policy Studies and funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other scientific research agencies. Current projects include those that investigate the effects of U.S. state- and county-level factors on population health trends and disparities. The Research Scientist's roles include collaborating with the project leaders on analytic designs; survey data collection and management; independently conducting basic and advanced statistical analyses of data derived from various sources, such as administrative datasets (e.g., Census data, vital statistics) and NIH-funded survey datasets interpreting results of statistical analyses to answer research questions; leading and collaborating on peer-reviewed manuscripts, reports, policy briefs, presentations, and grant proposals; and training and overseeing graduate research assistants.
This position is anticipated to be filled on a fully remote basis unless the identified candidate resides in or wishes to relocate to the Syracuse / Central New York area. Not all geographical areas within the United States are eligible.
