JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A Research Project Manager 1 position is available at The Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu/) to organize the Crowley research team, interact with team members including undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars; write lab procedures and associated data collection; ordering lab supplies and account reconciliation under the supervision of Dr. Nicole Crowley. We study the role of neuropeptides and g-protein coupled receptors in modulating neurons, circuits, and systems.
The employee is expected to assist in experiments and animal procedures as part of ongoing research in the labs. They are expected to carefully document experimental results and procedures in a detailed manner for internal and external publication. Additionally, there is a possibility for presenting research and technical presentations to the lab. They need to interact with various PSU agencies and departments to deal with lab safety, general lab functioning and animal welfare issues in the lab and ensure that everyone is following updated guidelines. Employee will be expected to order supplies and materials using PSU purchasing cards. The position involves responsibility for record management and writing of lab protocols and reports. The employee will have weekly meetings with PIs to discuss goals, action items and outcomes and will support the efforts of the PIs as well as the other members of the lab.
Education and Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.) or engineering and 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with general laboratory methods, rodent surgical procedures, rodent handling and/or histology is preferred.
Experience with electronics/lab safety and stocking experience is preferred.
Additional Information
This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of re-funding.
