  We are looking for a Full-Time Research Coordinator III to join the UTHealth Institute of Aging as part of the UTHealth- School of Public Health in Houston, TX, 77030. In this position, you will develop, plan, coordinate, and manage all activities of the South Texas Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP). Some of these activities will include budget management, communication, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, coordination of educational programs, and the training and secondary oversight of research staff members.

  Position Summary:

  Initiates, supports, plans, coordinates and manages all activities of theSoutheast Texas Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) in the UTHealth Institute ofAging (IOA). Some activities consist of budget management, communication, collaboration with internal

  and external stakeholders, coordination of educational programs and training and secondary oversightof research staff.

  Position Key Accountabilities:

  Provides day-to-day project management coordination for research projects to include personnel,facilities, and supplies in support of research project desired outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.

  Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations andgovernmental agencies; works closely with both UTHealth and School of Public Health Office ofSponsored Projects on the submission of grants.

  May provide direction/recommendations by identifying opportunities to enhance, re-terminate, or redirectresources across various research projects to ensure timely completion of project guidelines.

  Prepares or assists in the preparation of budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs ofresearch staff, authorizes expenditures for multiple projects. Attends research planning meetings toprepare budget drafts for departmental leadership approval. Provides any financial challenges toAdministrative Director of Institute on Aging

  Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees and ensures that all staffhas received the proper training/attended the appropriate training courses.

  Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensures accuracy and integrity of data. Data mayinclude patient data and departmental programmatic data.

  Prepares draft reports and communications for the departmental program/division leadership.

  Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals andfunded projects.

  May review and work on contracts

  Working in conjunction with IOA marketing coordinator, may create and edit variouscommunications materials for the GWEP and IOA, which may include printed materials, web sitecontent and/or department newsletters.

  Communicates with community stakeholders, faculty from collaborating institutions andprofessionals to share objectives and outcomes. May prepares/makes oral presentations for GWEPprogram directors or present at professional meetings.

  Will oversee renewal and implementation of new GWEP grants to HRSA under the direction ofUTHealth GWEP program director

  May manage, through input to departmental leadership or directly, Human Resources activities fordirect administrative reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training,professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

  Other duties as assigned.

  Certification/Skills:

  Strong analytical thinking, strategic planning, and collaboration experience preferred.

  Program coordination and program management skills are preferred.

  Minimum Education:

  Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.Minimum Experience:

  Five (5) years of relevant experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.Preferred:

  Five (5) years of applicable experience in program coordination and management, research experience andstrong strategic implementation experience.Physical Requirements:

  Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

  This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

  This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

  Residency Requirement:

  Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
