  Join our Group Benefits Technology Team!

  Calling on a Lead Cloud Engineer who can seamlessly combine tech know-how with business insight to meet our cloud computing needs, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support and planning, and everything in between. Not only are you experienced in cloud-based tech, but you have a firm grasp of PaaS technologies, platforms and applications, and have intimate knowledge of how best to customize these for our business to help us become more secure and efficient. You are able to connect the dots and evolve our cloud capabilities over time, evolve your own capabilities as an engineer and keeping an eye on developments that can support our expansion.

  Key Accountabilities:

  Working in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.

  Planning, designing and developing cloud-based applications.

  Handling cloud environments within company security guidelines.

  Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with standard processes throughout the development lifecycle.

  Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.

  Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and tackle issues before they intensify into problems.

  Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.

  Lead and develop best practices for larger Cloud Engineer team.

  Building and designing web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services.

  Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company.

  Stay ahead of industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.

  Lead development team to builds, codes, tests, maintain high quality software.

  Participates in Agile sprints and ceremonies; supports rapid iteration and development.

  Translates user requirements into software requirements.

  Responsible for owning the design, development, testing, maintaining and improving application APIs as a member of a team, works across key data, orchestration, rules and transactional stacks through the entire application and system development life cycle.

  Has positive impact to specific organizational entities & has some understanding of the nature of the impact.

  Creates and conducts executable tests, continuously integrating code into the overall software framework.

  Reviews current software framework to identify defects and opportunities to improve performance and stability.

  Completes and ensures completion of any required documentation required e.g. deployment, maintenance, support and business needs.

  Researches technical strategies, third party tools, and current and new technologies to deal with emerging technical issues and improve development efficiency.

  Promotes agile principles and methodology.

  Applies disciplined coding practices to enable agility and delivery of high quality code.

  Job Requirements:

  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field.

  Minimum 5 to 7 years+; demonstrated ability architecting scalable distributed systems.

  Design experience in Cloud (Azure/AWS)

  Experience with end-end enterprise implementation of AKS.

  Experience working with Public/Private/Hybrid cloud architecture (PaaS) using AKS and Azure, Azure SQL, etc.

  Experience in Terraform, Infra as Code, and Desired State Configuration.

  Good knowledge of Unix and Bosh CLI.

  Experience with end-to-end application development in open-stack technologies running in private, public or hybrid datacenter locations is preferred.

  Software development in an agile environment with a focus on DevOps with CI/CD.

  Ability to work independently and also in a dynamic team environment.

  Continuous learner and ability to present solutions and complex technical aspects to different levels of audiences.

  Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate at different management levels.

  Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features.

  Familiar with platform technologies, modern software architectures and API-driven development, scripting languages, technologies such as: API Gateways, Messaging, Data Event Streaming, REST, SOAP, Distributed Tracing, Relational and Document Database Interface/SQL.

  Salary & Benefits

  The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

  Primary Location

  Waterloo, Ontario

  Salary range is expected to be between

  $107,730.00 CAD - $200,070.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
