The position will lead development of new coatings, cleaners and other related products for the post-harvest produce market. Responsibilities Major Responsibility Area #1:Product Development – Coatings & Cleaners Develop new proprietary coatings, cleaners, or other products for application to fresh produce based on performance, regulatory criteria, cost, and schedule requirements. Complete lab and field testing of experimental formulations within project timelines. Provide production support to help ensure successful commercial production scale-up for new products Establish raw material and finished product specifications. Major Responsibility Area #3:Technical and Laboratory Support Provide product testing support for R&D, Tech Service, Sales, and special projects. Experience working in a laboratory 3-5 years scientific research experience. Good basic laboratory skills (pipetting , measuring techniques, reagent preparation) Research experience in polymer chemistry, coatings, sealants, personal care, chemical, produce coating development or other industrial field. Research experience in postharvest produce pathology Knowledgeable of fruit and vegetable postharvest pathology. Experience in compiling and interpreting scientific data. Horticulture industry or customer service work experience. Experience in interpreting FDA regulations Experience in Statistical Software Working Conditions: Up to 100% of time will be spent in a laboratory setting Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs May require extended periods of sitting and/or standing with occasional kneeling or crouching Working in moderate cold to extreme heat Working around moving industrial machinery and exposure to machinery noise, chemicals, and fumes from associated products. Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, squatting, and stepping up/down from material handling equipment Exposed to possible hazards including heavy equipment, slippery footing, cold/hot temperatures, etc. Travel: 15-25% domestic and/or international travel Annual Salary Range is $70,000 to $95,000 plus benefits and incentive plans.
