In the role of Research AssociateII you will beworking in Anesthesiology. Purpose Under minimalsupervision, uses fundamental and advanced concepts, practices, andprocedures of particular field of specialization to perform complexscientific research. In the role of Research Associate II, you willindependently, as well as collaboratively, conduct research studies toadvance the goals of the principal investigators, as well asdepartmental, research programs exploring novel treatment of chronicpain using animal models. Primary Functions * Performs a variety ofincreasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures including,but not limited to rodent surgery, behavior analysis, immunohistology,western blotting, and PCR with minimal supervision. * Develop newmethodologies for lab procedures. * Oversee ordering laboratorysupplies and materials. * Participate in meetings with principalinvestigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity ofdata, develop methodologies, evaluate lab procedures. * Teach and trainnew members of the lab in relevant techniques and analytical procedures.* Organize and delegate work assignments. * Perform library searchesprepare materials for publications and grants. Knowledge - Skills -Abilities Experience working with rodents, cell culture, standardmolecular biology techniques including PCR, immunohistochemistry, and/orwestern blotting Knowledge of neurophysiology and neurobiology ispreferred Knowledge of advanced lab techniques, planning andimplementation of research protocols is essential. Experience withhandling of laboratory animals is preferred, but not required.Experience working with rodents, cell culture, standard molecularbiology techniques including PCR, immunohistochemistry, and/or westernblotting. Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation,and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving,critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
