About Research Assistant, BIONIC

  The Brain Injury Outcomes NeuroImaging Center (BIONIC) in the Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant, BIONIC to support the Brain Injury Outcomes Services (BIOS) Clinical Trials Coordinating Center (CTCC). The BIOS CTCC manages multi-center, 30+ million dollar federally funded clinical trials and multiple site-specific pharmaceutical sponsored trials. The Research Assistant, BIONIC will provide support to the division faculty, administrators, and research personnel.

  BIONIC is BIOS CTCC’s core image lab and reading center and has developed innovative, accurate methods for the qualitative and quantitative volumetric analysis of brain lesions, as well as general image acquisition, harmonization, de-identification, archiving, and management protocols across a spectrum of imaging modalities. Specific imaging modalities that BIONIC has experience with include CT, CTA, MRI, fMRI, PET, echocardiogram, ultrasound, and others. BIONIC also utilizes machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to help optimize workflows and productivity. BIONIC has successfully combined image and data management systems to produce meaningfully designed reports of outcomes, surgical performance, drug delivery, infection tracking, new events, and adverse event tracking across multiple clinical trials targeting a range of therapeutic areas.

  Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  Perform general analysis of quality and usability of CT and MR scans acquired for clinical trial evaluations on a daily basis, upon completion of our internal education and training program.

  Prepare summaries and reports of findings to study management, as well as personnel at participating sites

  Catalogue and archive neuroimaging studies for organized analysis and general clinical trial recordkeeping

  Perform data entry and data editing, assist with basic data management tasks such as running queries on existing databases, organizing and editing data, and conducting reliability checks.

  Maintain multiple on-line regulatory documents files.

  Maintain multi-center research ethics committee approvals, assist with annual reports, IRB applications, and FDA reporting.

  Handle source documents; perform literature searches; write summaries; assist writing grants and standard operational procedures; prepare journal manuscripts;

  Comply with all regulatory and institutional requirements related to clinical research.

  Collate, distribute, and ship documents.

  Provide analytical support to data analysts and general research support, including preparing PowerPoint presentations and general correspondence.

  Participate in project related meetings and develop and implement needed quality control procedures and perform required tasks

  Perform other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.

  Some knowledge of machine language is a plus.

  JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.   The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
