Summary
As the nation's largest public research university, we aim to catalyze, support and safeguard research at the University of Michigan. We are looking for someone to provide primarily post-award research administration support focused on high-quality customer service and counsel to faculty and staff while being responsible for a broad range of post-award activities. You will report to the Research Administrator Lead within the University's Office of The Vice President for Research (OVPR).

Responsibilities*
Providecomprehensive financial management and ethical stewardship for diverse teams that hold large and complex projects across a large, decentralized organization keeping a customer-service oriented attitude at the core of your work.
Be the liaison between sponsors, internal departments, and principal investigators.
Review and communicate award terms and conditions, including compliance and reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with award terms and conditions.
Quarterly at a minimum, review and reconcile financial account activity for allowability and appropriateness independently, including tracking cost-share commitments and effort. Take corrective action as needed. Provide feedback to project investigators for any issues or corrective actions that are required. Provide project updates to Research Administration leadership.
Develop and prepare complex project analyses and forecasting for all sponsored and non-sponsored accounts in assigned portfolio and make recommendations for multiple scenarios.
Aid in the development of a standard reporting package for large and complex projects.
Work with Sponsored Programs on the preparation of annual and/or final financial status reports (FSR) and uniform guidance (UG) Reports in a timely manner.
Coordinate with our research teams and other partners to process multiple award changes, effort changes (DBE), journal entries, budget reallocations, and to process various expense approvals (i.e. Concur reports).
Participate in continuous improvement projects related to Research Administration in OVPR.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
5+ years of progressive grants and contract administration experience specifically with post-award financial.
Intermediate to expert level proficiency with database administration, reporting tools, Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), and Google collaboration tools.
Interest in a multi-faceted work environment that is collaborative, team-oriented and customer-service focused.
Proficiency in meeting deadlines and managing tasks to completion in a professional manner.
Experience working independently, exercising professional judgment and using available resources.
A broad understanding of positive interpersonal relationship principles.
Desired Qualifications*
Knowledge of project management methodologies.
Experience with LEAN thinking and continuous improvement.
Certified Research Administration (CRA) certification.

A higher salary may be considered for an extraordinarily qualified candidate.
