　　Heat Treat Operator

　　VALUE STREAM / DEPARTMENT: Heat Treat

　　STATUS & PAY CLASS: Full Time - Hourly / Non-Exempt

　　SHIFT: Shift (10% shift differential) / Overtime May Be Required

　　WORK SCHEDULE: Work:

　　Alternative work hours may be considered, if applicable

　　WAGE RATE: Earn up to \$28.10/ hour

　　Starting wage is negotiable based on previous knowledge/experience

　　POSITION SUMMARY: In this fast-paced position, the employee operatesheat treating

　　processes to ensure the finished product has obtained a

　　specific Rockwell hardness that meet customers expectations

　　Essential Job Functions

　　As a Heat Treat Operator, an employee will be trained to set up, operateand tend to heat treat

　　equipment and processes.

　　Job functions that will be trained are as follows:

　　? Determining the temperature and time of heating cycles to obtainspecific Rockwell hardness.

　　? Monitoring the furnace and tempering ovens

　　o Preparing and loading baskets

　　o Monitoring controls and amperage for furnace and temper ovens tocontrol temperature and

　　time settings

　　o Monitor the nitrogen generator and meters accordingly to maintainproduction quality and flow

　　? Miscellaneous tasks as they relate to the overall duties of a HeatTreat Operator

　　o Will be required to use any and all cut-off saws for sample cutting

　　o Operating Rockwell testers to determine the specific hardness of rawmaterial

　　o Straightening heat-treated materials using straightening press,anvils, hammers and

　　straightening plates

　　o Will be required to dismantle and repair furnace and tempering ovens

　　o Quality control inspection of production parts

　　o Performs basis data entry for job tracking purposes

　　Qualifications

　　REQUIRED

　　Education:

　　? High school education required or an equivalent of education andexperience from which

　　comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

　　Experience/Skills and/or years of specific experience:

　　? Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical functions in theareas of fractions, decimals,

　　metrics, conversions, as well as working knowledge of basic geometry andtrigonometry

　　? Mechanically inclined, preferred

　　? Ability to perform basic computer skills and the ability to operate ina Windows and non-Windows

　　format

　　? Ability to establish and maintain a professional and effective workingrelationship with co-workers

　　and other employees at all levels in the organization

　　? Effective written and/or oral communication skills to interact withemployees at all levels of the

　　organization

　　? Ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects to their completionwith minimal supervision

　　? Ability to work independently and with multiple tasks

　　? Ability to work within an atmosphere of continuous improvement andteamwork.

　　? Quality oriented with attention to details

　　? Familiarity with LEAN principals and waste elimination are a plus

　　? Must be 18 years of age
