Create and implement programs, processes, procedures, and practices that will result in a culture of continual improvement of Fleet Operations and Maintenance Reliability. Determine ongoing measurement techniques to track and validate that continual improvement is progressing throughout the fleet and make routine corrections as dictated by the measurements.
Job Description
REPORT TO: Plant Reliability Optimization Manager
WORK DESIGNATION: remote preferably within AEP's service territory in these states: OH, WV, VA, KY, TN, IN, MI, OK, TX, LA, AR. Other states and municipalities/locales may be reviewed based on payroll, tax and benefits.
Essential Job Functions & T asks:
1) Develop good working relationships with personnel at each fleet facility, generation management, and engineering in order to coach and facilitate a continual improvement culture surrounding fleet operations and maintenance strategy.
2) A focus on plant operations and maintenance activities to help create safe, reliable, and error free operations of plant systems and equipment on a sustainable basis.
3) A focus on determining cause analysis of fleet events that prevent top performance from the fleet and actions needed to eliminate them.
4) Communication of fleet events and contributing causes for the purpose of sharing Lessons Learned so proactive actions can be taken to avoid repeat occurrences.
5) Coordinate the Fleet Operations and Maintenance Guidelines that are used to standardize expectations around specific areas of plant operations and maintenance reliability strategy.
6) Coordinate plant assessments with the goal of
identifying weaknesses and help the plants develop plant specific improvement plans.
7) Form, develop, and coordinate appropriate user group meetings (monthly, annual, and ad hoc) necessary to accomplish the goals of the position. Use this forum for education, coaching and feedback
8) Seek out specific plant and industry best practices and share them with the fleet for implementation where appropriate.
9) Seek out applicable events, lessons learned and best practices external to AEP and communicate them as internal ones are communicated.
10) Work with executive management to raise awareness of issues, concerns, and risks to the Fleet. Create and deliver clear presentations to executive level audience of fleet requirements for operational and maintenance excellence.
Basic Qualifications:
Education requirements are listed below:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Equivalent experience - 10 years' experience in electric utility including 2 years in a supervisory role.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
Must have a very good working knowledge of plant Operations and Maintenance of equipment along with plant personnel functions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Physical demand level is Sedentary.
Incumbent must be a self-starter, capable of performing necessary work with minimal supervision, have strong interpersonal skills, look for and embrace change, have a proven track record of successful teamwork and be able to establish strong relationships with each fleet facility and other support personnel.
Additional Requirements:
Possess excellent written and verbal communication as well as collaboration skills with the ability to work across the entire organization including senior leadership. Travel to Generation facilities is expected to help with operational and maintenance activities. Expect 10%-50% depending upon the initiatives.
INITIAL POSITITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: ($110,656 - $14 3 ,853). In addition to base salary, AEP offers competitive Total Rewards including: discretionary annual incentive, 401(k), company-funded pension, health insurance, vacation, etc.
