The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, JCC-Nampa facility is now hiring for a full-time Rehabilitation Specialist or Rehabilitation Specialist Associate . IDJC is always looking for enthusiastic, caring and compassionate team members to join our efforts to rehabilitate the youth in our care. This position requires at least one year of experience as a primary professional specialist. This can include but is not limited to Clinician, Social Worker, Development Specialist, or other exempt level treatment Profession.

This position must attend a two-week POST academy in Meridian, Idaho. Training and time are paid by IDJC and must be completed within first year of employment. Candidates with current and valid POST Certification are not required to attend.

Responsibilities:

The Rehabilitation Specialist provides individual and group rehabilitative therapy for delinquent youth assigned to Juvenile Justice Center; develop and implement treatment programs; perform related work.

Therapy: Instructs youth in peer-counseling methods Guides peer-group interaction to identify and resolve personal, behavioral, and social problems.

Evaluates peer-group counseling sessions.

Conducts individual and group therapy.

Assesses youth treatment progress.

Treatment Programs: Develops and implements individual and group treatment programs.

Schedules activities and programs of assigned youth.

Evaluates treatment data and records.

Consults with staff regarding youth behavior, special needs, and adjustment problems.

Explains treatment programs and goals to staff.

Ensures use of appropriate intervention methods and consistency of staff response to youth behavior.

Trains cottage staff in therapeutic intervention methods.

Serves as youth advocate and provides liaison with judicial, community, and family representatives.

Maintains security and safety of youth.

Provides input for policies and procedures.

May provide input for performance evaluation.

Position(s) Minimum Qualifications:

(Wage $27.84-$33.41) Rehabilitation Specialist Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 4 years knowledge base concerning group processes and dynamics, and intervention and treatment methods. This can also be met by having a bachelor's degree in subject area or closely related field AND 1-year relevant experience, OR a master's degree or higher in subject area or closely related field.

Minimum of 2 years knowledge base concerning problems and needs of delinquent youth; the juvenile justice system. This can also be met by having a bachelor's degree or higher, OR 2 upper division courses related to subject area OR comparable trainings and seminars.

Minimum of 6 months of training methods. This can also be met by 2 college courses in related subject area OR comparable trainings and seminars.

Minimum of 6 months of work experience: conducting and evaluating individual and group problem solving sessions; developing and implementing treatment programs; composing written reports. This is typically met by working in a capacity of developing treatment plans as a team leader; providing instruction on a treatment plan, client rights, juvenile justice system functioning; evaluating the progress of assigned client caseloads.

Meet entrance requirements established by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) academy for correction officers including the following: Be at least 21 years of age Be eligible for and in good standing to obtain a POST certification within 12 months of hire Possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent for those that served in the military, must have a discharge indicating honorable, uncharacterized, or general under honorable conditions.

Hold a current and valid driver’s license in your state of residence.

Be a U.S. Citizen No conviction, withheld judgment, suspicion or imposed conviction of the following: See POST IDAPA Code 11.11.01 for more information. A felony age eighteen (18) years old or older at the time of conviction A misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI within the last 2 years or had 2 or more misdemeanor DUI offenses within 5 years immediately preceding application. A misdemeanor crime involving domestic violence within the last 5 years preceding this application. A misdemeanor crime of deceit or a misdemeanor sex offense within the last 5 years preceding this application. A misdemeanor drug-related offense within one (1) year immediately preceding this application.

No purchase or possession of marijuana, cannabis, hashish, hash oil, or THC in synthetic and natural forms marijuana within one (1) year immediately preceding job application.

Willingness to: deal with violence, harassment, threats, verbal abuse; break up fights, control disturbances, and physically restrain offenders; perform searches for contraband and weapons; work alone unarmed among unrestricted offenders; work in secure/locked facility in confined spaces; learn and follow department policies, procedures, rules, and instructions; set aside personal prejudices and be fair; work in high-stress, hostile environments; transport juveniles; become certified in CPR.

Physical requirements: no hearing, sight, or physical limitations that would prevent performance of duties.

Meet Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Juvenile Facility Standards and must never have been the subject of the following: Been the perpetrator of sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution; Been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; Been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse. D. Had allegations substantiated against me for an incident(s) of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, and/or child abuse against another person; Resigned from a job where I was the subject of a pending investigation being conducted for an allegation of sexual abuse against another person.
