Job Description: * * Primary role will be as a circulating nurse in one of our seven cardiac or vascular operating rooms. High volume OR, averaging 30 open heart cases per week. * On-call obligation required for covering week nights and both weekend days and nights after the orientation process. * Works as a team member in the operating room alongside the rest of the surgical team to provide patient-centered care to high acuity patients. * Ensures the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each operation. * Assists with cleaning operating room after the operation, ensuring proper routing of equipment and used material. * Organizing and administering individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room. It combines the AORN Core Curriculum evidence-based module study course with classroom didactics, OR clinical skills, and simulation labs. It incorporates OR observation and hands-on participation in all modalities of perioperative nursing skills. The program will enhance the nurse’s educational knowledge leading to the ability to practice independently at a foundation level in a perioperative position. Learning Objectives: At the completion of this course, the nurse will be able to: 1. Practice independently at a foundation level in a perioperative position. 2. Advance as a professional perioperative nurse. 3. Improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practice. 4.
